Starting in September 2006, the Arts Council has been monitoring and convening interested parties to save a treasured artwork in Algiers. Now, State, City and non-profit agencies have all rallied together to ensure the work will be enjoyed by future generations. Located on a building slated for demolition, this beautiful mosaic was created in 1963 by renowned artist Conrad Albrizio. Professional conservators from the McKay Lodge Conservation Laboratory are currently preparing the piece for removal and storage until it can be reinstalled in the newly built mental health facility in 2012.
