The Arts Council’s public art program maintains a Visual Artists Registry with resumes and slides from more than 1,000 visual artists, over 700 of whom live within the metropolitan New Orleans (5 parish) area. The Arts Council of New Orleans' Visual Artist Registry (ACNOVAR) is the first step toward consideration for the Percent For Art Program’s commissions and direct purchases, as well as for other public art programs administered by the Arts Council. The slide registry is a free service and is one of the ways the Arts Council has of visually recording the characteristics of an artist’s work and passing those characteristics on to the public at large. It is frequently used to locate or commission artists for artwork, teaching or speaking positions, and as an ongoing referral service for artists, private and corporate collectors, arts administrators, and arts advocates. (The registry list is not given out for solicitations from the artists.)
To join the Registry, please print and complete this form and send it in with at least three slides or three images on disc.
