Call for Artists: Faubourg Lafitte Housing Community Request for Qualifications
The Public Art Program of the Arts Council of New Orleans announces a commission for artwork. Supported through funds provided through the Faubourg Lafitte Redevelopment.



Eligibility: Must reside or have gallery representation in Orleans Parish. Preference will be given to artists with a history of living or working in the surrounding neighborhood.
Budget: $50,000

Congressional Art Competition for HS Students
Deadline May 2, 2014

Each spring, a nationwide high school arts competition is sponsored by Members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The contest is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in our congressional district.

The art contest is open to all high school students in Louisianaís 2nd Congressional District. The over-all winner of our district's competition will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol. The exhibit in Washington will also include artwork from other contest winners nation-wide.

11th Street Bridge Park Design Competition
The 11th Street Bridge Park in Washington DC will be the cityís first elevated public park located on the piers of the old bridge spanning the Anacostia River. This unique park will provide visitors of all ages the ability to interact with the river, nature, art, entertainment and each other. They are currently soliciting Bridge Park designs from architects and landscape architects across the country.

Call to Composers: Green Dot Journey
Deadline: June 1, 2014

Open to all composers, aged 18 or older, who are Canadian or U.S. citizens or permanent residents. 10-12 minutes scored for violin or piano. Recognizes 10 living composers, one representing a separate region to receive recognition and exposure for their musical compositions. These newly written pieces will be performed in concert programs across the USA, Canada, and the British Isles. Total prize money $1500.

Call for Nominations: Rivertown Arts Council
Deadline April 21, 2014

The establishment of the Rivertown Arts Council comes on the heels of the news that state officials have designated Kenner's Rivertown as one of 36 Main Street communities in Louisiana. One of the main goals of an Arts Council would be to set up an Artist Co-op at Exhibition Hall in Rivertown. A co-op of artists would not only operate an arts market but also could hold workshops and other events to promote the arts.

Anyone who is an artist, art teacher or has a significant connection to the arts can apply for a spot on the Arts Council. Nomination packets are available online by clicking the link below and require a resume, CV and a brief statement explaining the individualís interest in joining the council.

Call to Artists: St Tammany National Juried Artists Exhibition
Deadline May 9, 2014

The St. Tammany Art Association announces a call for entries to its 49th National Juried Artists Exhibition. The annual competition of contemporary art, opens July 12 to August 9, 2014, awards up to $3,000 in a cash prizes including a $1,000 prize for Best of Show.

Open to artists ages 18 and up in the United States, the St. Tammany Art Association's summer show is one of the most diverse in the Southeast. Accepted artwork is original visual art completed within the past two years and not previously exhibited at STAA. Space limitations do not allow STAA to accommodate film, video or large installations, and reproductions of original artwork are not admitted.

Call to Artists: Creole Tomato Festival image.
Deadline March 31, 2014

The French Market Corporation is seeking submissions from local artists to design a 2014 Creole Tomato Festival image. The chosen artwork will be used as the official Creole Tomato Festival poster and for use on t-shirts sold with festival merchandise.

The artist will receive a complimentary vendor booth to sell his/her own artwork at the Creole Tomato Festival. Additionally, artwork and artist will be included in a press release featuring the artist, artist quotes and selected artwork image before the festival. The artist will receive 20 complimentary posters and 20 complimentary t-shirts in various sizes. The artist will receive promotions throughout the festival and in press coverage leading up to the festival. The artwork, posters, and tshirts will be on display throughout the French Market in the weeks leading up to and during the festival.

Call for Panels for the International Sculpture Conference in New Orleans

The International Sculpture Center is now inviting entries for a Call for Panels for the 24th International Sculpture Conference: Sculpture, Culture, and Community in New Orleans, LA from October 1-4, 2014. The International Sculpture Center is seeking compelling panel proposals relating to Artistic Vision & Community Engagement, Art's Role in Cultural Revitalization, Contemporary Sculptural Practices, and other topics relevant to the working artist. Submissions must be 200 words and include a clear but brief statement of the panel objective, for those interested in serving as panel moderators during conference programming. Call for Ceramic Artists-Freret Clay Center
Freret Clay Center is a new gallery and ceramic studio located near Freret St. They host art openings on the second Saturday of most months. They celebrate ceramic arts including pottery and sculpture. They are looking for artists who have a body of work and are interested in showing in our space.
