National Geographic GeoTourism Project
Nomination deadline July 15, 2013
National Geographic is creating a GeoTourism Map Guide for Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida—for both print and mobile application. To this end, the project’s architects are asking for the public’s participation in nominating sites that should be included on the MapGuide: historical, cultural, or natural landmarks; events, attractions, or activities; businesses, plantations, and trails; artists, artisans, and storytellers as well as local legends that capture the region’s unique character, heritage, and beauty.

Clarence John Laughlin Award

The New Orleans Photo Alliance is pleased to announce its offering of an annual $5000 award to recognize and reward a fine art photographer who is creating or has completed a significant body of photographic work.
The Clarence John Laughlin Award was instituted by the New Orleans Photo Alliance in 2010 to support the work of photographers who use the medium as a means of creative expression.
The award is open to emerging and established photographers who reside in the U.S. The online application process requires a portfolio of 10-20 photographs, a written statement, a bio or CV, and a $25 application fee. NOPA will accept applications from June 1 through July 20, 2013. Finalists will be announced on August 20, 2013 and the winner on October 1, 2013. Russell Lord, the Freeman Family Curator of Photographs at the New Orleans Museum of Art, will serve as this year’s juror.

Call to Sculptors: Auburn, AL

Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art at Auburn University in Alabama presents Out of the Box, a juried outdoor sculpture competition in honor of the museum's 10th anniversary. The yearlong exhibition, on view October 4, 2013-October 2, 2014, will be judged by Drs. Carol Mickett and Robert Stackhouse and prizes will be awarded to 10 finalists.

Tennessee Williams One Act Play Contest
DEADLINE: November 1st, 2013
Tennessee Williams One-act competition is now accepting submissions. The Grand Prize includes a staged reading at the next festival, $1,500, VIP All-Access Festival pass for two years, and publication in Bayou. Additionally, there will be a full production of the winners work at the Festival the following year. The University of New Orleans Creative Writing Workshop and the Department of Film, Theatre, and Communication Arts will judge the 28th Annual One-Act Contest. Playwrights who have not been previously produced, published, or performed may submit a play running no more than an hour with an entry fee of $25 by November 1st.

Call to Artists: Louisiana Contemporary Annual Juried Exhibition

Louisiana Contemporary is a statewide juried art exhibition organized by The Ogden Museum of Southern Art. Opening reception scheduled for White Linen Night.
Established in 2012, this annual juried event promotes contemporary art practices in the state of Louisiana and provides exhibition space for the exposition of art by artists age 18 and over residing in the state of Louisiana. All media are eligible. Up to $3000 in awards will be presented to participating artists including a $1000 Best of Show cash award. 2013 Juror: Franklin Sirmans, Terri and Michael Smooke Curator and Department Head, Contemporary Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, CA.

Call to Artists: Irene Rosenzweig Biennial

The Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas in Pine Bluff announces the Irene Rosenzweig 2013 Biennial Exhibition. The exhibition will be on display at the Center from November 14 through December 30. Artists must be 18 years or older and reside in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee or Texas. Artwork in all traditional art forms will be accepted including paintings, original prints, fiber art, ceramics, sculpture and
photography. $2000 in total prize money. Application fee: $20.

Call to Artists: Krewe Lounge
This artist call is for the signage of the Krewe Lounge project located in the Saratoga Building at 212 Loyola Ave. Looking to have each letter of "Krewe" hung and illuminated in purple in each of the first five panes. For the sixth and final pane, the words "City Center Lounge" shown and also illuminated possibly green or gold. The letters themselves can be made out of metal, plastic, acrylic or whatever medium as long as it can be well lit by modern leds or some other type of light source that brings an ultra modern look. It is also important to note that these letters must be installed securely.
Budget is between $2500 and $2900 for full implementation and installation. Looking to have the work fully completed by the first week of August.
